STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Select an external camera or microphone on the recording screen

Tip: The steps below are the same whether you are a Creator recording a Loop or Close the Loop video, or a Contributor recording a video response. The settings panel is accessed the same way on both screens.

1. Open the recording screen

Navigate to the recording screen within your Loop or response flow. You will see a live camera preview and a red record button.

2. Open the settings panel

Click the settings icon (gear icon) on the recording screen. A settings panel will appear containing the following options:

- Blur background
- Choose background
- Camera
- Microphone

3. Select your camera

Click the Camera drop-down and select your preferred external camera from the list of available devices. The live preview will update immediately to show the feed from the selected camera.

4. Select your microphone

Click the Microphone drop-down and select your preferred external microphone from the list of available devices.

5. Close the settings panel and record

Once you have selected your preferred devices, close the settings panel. Click the red record button to begin recording using your chosen camera and microphone.

💡 You can also use this settings panel to blur your background or choose a custom background before recording.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Your selected camera and microphone will be used for the recording. You can change your device selection at any time before you start recording by reopening the settings panel.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Can both Creators and Contributors use an external camera or microphone?

Yes. The camera and microphone settings panel is available on both the Creator recording screen and the Contributor response screen. The steps are the same for both.

My external camera or microphone is not showing in the drop-down. What should I do?

Make sure your device is connected before you open the recording screen. If you connected it after opening the screen, refresh the page and try again. Also check that your browser has permission to access the camera and microphone — you may see a prompt from your browser the first time you record.

Can I blur or change my background as well?

Yes. The settings panel also includes options to blur your background or choose a custom background. These can be set at the same time as selecting your camera and microphone.

Will my device preferences be saved for next time?

The source material does not confirm whether device preferences are saved between sessions. [NEEDS SCREENSHOT CONFIRMATION]

Does this work on all browsers?

WorkBuzz Dialogue uses your browser to access your camera and microphone. Your browser must support camera and microphone access and must have permission granted. For the best experience, use an up-to-date version of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.
