BEFORE YOU START
No setup is required. Caption and language settings are available automatically when viewing a Loop.
Captions are enabled by default when you view a Loop.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Enable or disable captions
1. Open a Loop
Captions are automatically enabled when you view a Loop. You will see captions displayed on screen by default.
2. Turn captions off
To disable captions, click the captions toggle to turn them off.
3. Turn captions back on
To re-enable captions, click the same toggle again.
💡 Captions and the display language can be set independently. Turning captions off does not affect your display language setting.
Change the display language
4. Open the language settings
Click the display language option to open the language selector. This changes the language of the interface itself.
5. Browse and select your language
A list of available languages will be displayed. Select your preferred language from the list. The interface will update in real time to reflect your selection.
💡A range of languages is available, with more being added over time. The full list of currently available languages can be found within the language selector in the product.
Change the caption language
6. Open the caption language settings
Click the button to change the caption language only. This is separate from the display language setting.
7. Select your caption language
Choose the language you want your captions to display in. The creator's question will also be translated into the selected language.
💡 The display language and the caption language can be set to different languages. For example, the interface can be displayed in English while captions appear in Polish.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Your caption and language preferences are applied immediately and saved for future sessions. You can change them at any time while viewing a Loop. Settings can be adjusted independently, so you can have the interface in one language and captions in another.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Are captions on by default?
Yes. Captions are automatically enabled when you view a Loop. You can turn them off at any time using the captions toggle.
Can I have the interface in one language and captions in a different language?
Yes. The display language and the caption language are set independently. For example, you can have the interface displayed in English while captions appear in Danish.
Will the creator's question also be translated?
Yes. When you change the caption language, the creator's question will also be translated into the selected language.
What languages are available?
A range of languages is available, with more being added over time. The full list of currently available languages can be found within the language selector in the product.
Do my language settings save for future Loops?
Yes. Your language preferences are saved between sessions, so you will not need to reselect them each time you view a Loop. If you have a browser language set, Dialogue will also use that as your default.
Can a creator set a default language for all contributors?
No. Language and caption settings are configured individually by each contributor when they view a Loop. A creator cannot set a default language on behalf of their contributors.
