Running a Compatibility Check

This article explains how to run a compatibility check in WorkBuzz Dialogue to verify that your browser and system are correctly configured before creating a loop. Complete this check before your first loop to confirm all required connections, permissions

Before you start

  • You must have access to WorkBuzz Dialogue and be logged in.

  • A working camera and microphone must be connected to your device.

  • Access to your email inbox is required to complete the e-mail sending test.

Step-by-step instructions

💡 The first four sections - Internal API connection, External API connection, External Context Header, and Fonts - run automatically when you first land on the Compatibility screen. You can re-run them individually at any time using the play button.

Getting to the Compatibility screen

1. Log in and open your user account

Log into the Dialogue application. Go to your user account in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen and click your name.

2. Select Settings

A cog icon labelled Settings will appear. Select it.

3. Select Compatibility

You will be presented with a list of options on the left-hand side. Select Compatibility from the list.

4. Review the Compatibility screen

The page heading reads Compatibility with the subtitle Run Diagnostics Test to Verify Your Browser and System Compatibility. At the top left, a status badge shows Partial in orange - not all tests have been run yet. In the top right corner there is a button labelled Generate Report. Return to this once all tests have been completed. The screen is divided into eight individual test sections, each with a play button on the right-hand side and a status indicator showing Success, Idle, or a failure state.

5. Test 1 - Internal API connection

Click the play button to the right of the Internal API connection section. The status badge will show Success in green, confirming the internal API is reachable from your browser.

6. Test 2 - External API connection

Click the play button to the right of the External API connection section. The status will show Success, confirming the external API endpoint is reachable.

7. Test 3 - External Context Header

Click the play button to the right of the External Context Header section. The status will show Success, confirming the context header is being passed correctly to the external API.

8. Test 4 - Fonts - Active: Inter

Click the play button to the right of the Fonts — Active: Inter section. The status will show Success. This checks whether the main font from the stack is active or if a fallback is used, and confirms the correct font is loading.

9. Test 5 - Media permissions

Check that Camera permission and Microphone permission both show as granted in green. Click the play button to run the live test. A live camera feed will appear in the preview area on the left and the Microphone level bar on the right will respond to sound - speak aloud briefly to confirm the bar is moving.

Note Conditional step - Media permissions: This step only applies if your camera or microphone permission shows as denied or blocked. If that is the case, update your browser site permissions for this page, refresh, and re-run the test. If permissions are already granted, proceed to the next section.

10. Test 6 - E-mail sending

The status shows Idle. Helper text reads: Enter email and click send to test email sending. Type your email address into the Your email address field (required). Click the play button. The status will change to sending then email sent. Check your email inbox for a test email from the Dialogue Team. Return to the Compatibility screen and click the tick icon to confirm receipt. The status will update to Success.

💡 E-mail sending failure: If the test fails, check with your IT team that outbound email from WorkBuzz Dialogue is not being blocked by a spam filter or firewall.

11. Test 7 - Network connection

The Network connection section will typically already show Success with the result text Good network connection. This confirms there are no connectivity issues. You can press the play button to re-run this test at any time.

12. Test 8 - S3 / File upload

The status shows Idle. Helper text reads: Uploads a local test video / Click play to test upload. Click the play button. The test uploads a small video file to check that storage is correctly configured. If Success, file uploads for loop recordings will work as expected. If it fails, raise this with your WorkBuzz administrator as it may indicate a storage configuration issue.

13. Generate the report

Click the Generate Report button in the top right corner. This produces a summary of all test results which can be shared with your IT team or WorkBuzz support. Once generated, a Download button appears in the top right corner of the modal. This will save the report to your device's downloads folder.

What happens next

Once all eight sections show a Success status, your system is fully configured and you are ready to create a loop. Navigate back to your loop dashboard to begin. If any section shows a failure or remains idle, resolve that issue first using the guidance in this article before proceeding.

Common questions

What should I do if the Internal or External API connection test fails?

An API connection failure usually indicates a network or firewall issue. Contact your IT administrator and ask them to confirm that traffic to and from WorkBuzz Dialogue is not being blocked on your network.

My camera or microphone permission shows as denied - how do I fix this?

Open your browser site settings for the Dialogue application page, find the camera and microphone permissions, and change them from Blocked to Allow. Refresh the page and re-run the Media permissions test. The exact location of this setting varies by browser — in Chrome it is accessed via the padlock icon in the address bar.

The e-mail sending test shows a failure - what should I do?

Check your spam or junk folder first. If the email is not there, ask your IT team to confirm that outbound email from WorkBuzz Dialogue is not blocked by a spam filter or firewall. Once you receive the email, remember to click the tick icon on the Compatibility screen to confirm receipt.

Do I need to run the compatibility check every time I create a loop?

No. You only need to run it once when first setting up, or if you change browser, device, or network. If you experience issues with a loop recording, running the check again is a good first troubleshooting step.
